How Intuitive Are You?
Your intuition is ...
... missing in action.
While you sense that there's a well of opportunity and faith to draw from somewhere - either inside yourself or 'out there' in the universe - you allow fear to take over: fear of risk, fear of change, fear of failure, fear of looking foolish. Because of these fears, you may have given up on your dreams, or you may have come to the conclusion that things never change and that you must grin and bear unpleasant or unsatisfying situations.
But by using your intuition, you can draw upon the wisdom in yourself to improve relationships at work and at home, feel more confident in your day-to-day decisions and learn more from your mistakes.
How to make your intuition work for you: It's important to carve out time on daily or even weekly basis to meditate, pray or simply sit quietly by yourself. Use this time to talk to a higher power, if you believe in one, focusing on an issue that is bothering you - whether it concerns your boss, your spouse, your finances or something else. Spend a few minutes calming your mind and then thinking about the problem (our intuition is better 'heard' when we are not stressed or anxiety-ridden).
Use these strategies to learn to recognize intuition by tuning into your body, mind and spirit. By practising these over time, you'll begin to notice how intuition can guide you. 1. Pay attention to the inner voice. When facing a difficult situation, ask yourself, 'What can I learn here? What is the best course of action?' Then see if you can 'hear' your quiet inner voice offer a solution. Unlike the 'chatter' of anxiety, your inner voice is calm and compassionate. 2. Use your dreams. When your conscious mind is at rest, intuition can provide solutions. Take a moment before you fall asleep to ask yourself what the resolution to a problem should be. In the morning, recall your dreams and see if they offer a new perspective on things. 3. Stay attentive to your emotions. Elation, fear, depression, love - these are clear signals from our intuition about whether we are moving in the right or wrong direction. When you're faced with a choice, get into the habit of asking yourself, 'How do I really feel about this? Does it make me happy? Do I feel uneasy?' Trust your feelings. 4. Don't dismiss physical sensations. From a queasy stomach to a racing pulse, our bodies communicate our innermost feelings. Heed those signals and make a regular practice of checking in with your bodily sensations. 5. Believe you deserve the best. This may sound like the same old self-help talk, but it's key in tapping into your intuition: You must believe that you are worthy of the best - you deserve to have everything you want, whether that's fulfilling relationships, a career that energizes you or a financial life that allows you to live your life to the fullest. Intuition is linked to your most deeply held convictions and hopes. By recognizing those hopes, you bring your conscious life in line with your subconscious vision of your life.6. Examine your self-talk. Are you feeding yourself negative messages? ('I can't do anything right.' 'I never get what I want.'). If so, replace them with positive advice: 'I'm having a tough time right now, but I'll get through this and things will improve.' 'I have what it takes to live the life I dream about.' This strategy helps you tap into your intuition - that voice that is also on your side.
